About the fruit: Reine Claude greengages are the traditional French plum used for jams, tarts, and eau de vie. Origins: David Karp brought the true greengage over from Europe and planted an orchard of its trees at Andy's Orchards around six years ago. Before that time, this fruit was not to be found in America! Now Andy’s has the largest Reine Claude plot in the country. Whenever Reine Claudes come into season, especially in Paris, there's an immediate frenzy, making them almost impossible to nab. The jam itself is exquisite.
